Joseph Lavin is a partner at Lavin Puig whose areas of professional expertise include international business organization, transactional structuring and risk analysis, and complex commercial litigation. After obtaining his Juris Doctorate (JD) from Washington’s Georgetown University Law Center with honors, Joseph began his career as a litigator in the complex commercial litigation group in the Manhattan offices of Dechert LLP, an AMLAW 100 firm. In 2013, Joseph shifted his client focus from massive business enterprises to high-growth start-ups and innovative individual entrepreneurs in order to allow him to develop more personal relationships with his clients that involved long-term strategic development rather than crisis-management and litigation. The result of that shift was Joseph’s decision to partner with Magín Puig and to form Lavin Puig PLLC. Their goal was to create a new type of D.C. law firm with the professional competence to undertake international representations for a variety of commercial and governmental clients, but with the personal engagement and operational efficiency that only exist in the small firm context.

Mr. Lavin is admitted to practice law in New York, North Carolina, and Washington, D.C.
